Are you trans and considering growing a baby? Are you a perinatal wellness provider seeking accurate and useful information? Join the conversation!

This collaborative panel is co-sponsored by the LGBTQ Perinatal Wellness Center, Family Equality Council, Trans Women of Color Collective, and will be moderated by FEC’s Director of Family Formation (and trans gestational parent), Trystan Reese. Other panelists include the LGBTQ Perinatal Wellness Center’s acupuncturist, Autumn Ross, LAc, TWOCC’s Samantha Jo-Dato, Masculine Birth Rituals podcast creator, Grover Wehman-Brown, the Reproductive Science Center’s Sara Pittenger Reid, M.D among other trans family wellness advocates.

Trystan Reese sprang into the public consciousness in 2017 when he and his family told their trans family-building story in the mainstream media. He is proud to have expanded the public conversation about trans reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ families, and what it means to be a father. He regularly trains birthworkers on the details of trans and nonbinary pregnancy and postpartum support, and provides one-on-one assistance to trans gestational parents across the globe. He is also the Director of Family Formation at Family Equality Council, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ families and those who wish to form them.

Autumn Ross is a California licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, with a primary focus on fertility, chronic pain, and digestive disorders. She is passionate about working with each of her patients to develop an accessible and individualized path to wellness. As a queer woman with Mexican heritage, Autumn has extensive experience working with non-traditional families, monolingual Spanish speakers, and members of the LGTBQI communities.

Samantha Jo-Dato has a motto for life these days: “planted to grow; not buried to die…” She is an Atlantic City, NJ native and an advocate for Trans/GNC, P.O.C., and folks in all intersecting identities who are marginalized and oppressed. As a key player in social justice change for the trans movement globally, Sami-jo, as she is nicknamed, is currently the Chief Operating Officer of TWOCC (Trans Women of Color Collective), bestselling author of Shattered Perfect 1.0, motivational speaker, and orator who continues to unpack her fears, failures, and future while sharing and providing spaces for healthy living and reflection.

Grover Wehman-Brown is the creator, host, and producer of Masculine Birth Ritual, a podcast about Masculine-of-Center queer and trans people making, birthing, and nurturing new humans. As a formerly homeless, white, transmasculine Butch, she channels past harms and an abundance of community investment into writing, organizing, and communication strategy projects that pursue racial, economic, and gender justice. Grover has a PhD in Communications during which she researched strategies to ending homelessness in the U.S. and is a Baba to two young children ages 3 and 6.

Sara Pittenger Reid, M.D. received her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology at the UCSF and is board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Her research includes metabolic disease in people with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian aging, and the ethical use of reproductive technologies. Her special medical interests include fertility preservation and fertility treatment for the LGBT community. In her free time, Dr. Pittenger Reid enjoys food, travel and anything outdoors. She loves exploring everything Northern California has to offer with her family.
